Fakes — fake social media accounts created to mislead others by impersonating someone else. This phenomenon is well known to public figures: in any social network, there are thousands of fake celebrity accounts claiming to be the original.
These accounts are used for various purposes: spam, provocations, defamation, and creating conflicts. Sometimes they become more popular than the original and may be quoted in the media as genuine statements. A separate type is parody accounts, which formally do not violate rules since they use altered names or avatars.
