Removal of fake accounts on social networks

Methods for Blocking Fake Accounts

Fakes — fake social media accounts created to mislead others by impersonating someone else. This phenomenon is well known to public figures: in any social network, there are thousands of fake celebrity accounts claiming to be the original.

These accounts are used for various purposes: spam, provocations, defamation, and creating conflicts. Sometimes they become more popular than the original and may be quoted in the media as genuine statements. A separate type is parody accounts, which formally do not violate rules since they use altered names or avatars.

What We Can Do

  • Mass Blocking — If a public figure has dozens or hundreds of fakes, we block them all at once by submitting lists directly to the social network administrations (VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Mail.ru, Twitter).
  • Continuous Monitoring — Tracking and automatically blocking new fake accounts before they gain popularity.
  • Resolving Complex Disputes — If support refuses to block, we help collect evidence and resolve the issue in your favor.

Verified Accounts

To distinguish real profiles from fake ones, verified accounts with a special badge exist. We assist in obtaining this status on Twitter and VKontakte, as the verification process is often individual and not clearly documented.

Not Just Celebrities

Malicious actors can create accounts using someone else’s photos and name to send messages on their behalf or to engage in spam and service promotion. As a result, the person may be held responsible for actions they did not commit.

Social network rules prohibit creating such accounts. If contacting support and verifying your identity takes too long or does not yield results, we help accelerate the process.

How to Contact Support

It is important to clearly indicate which specific rules were violated. For example, according to VKontakte rules (clause 6.3.1), it is prohibited to register on behalf of another person or mislead users.

Sample message:

Hello. The user (link) is impersonating me, using my photos and name. According to clause 6.3.1 of the user agreement, I request that this account be blocked.

If the fake account does not use your photos or slightly alters your name, proving a violation is more difficult. In such cases, we are ready to assist in resolving the issue in your favor.
