There are many fake celebrity pages on social networks pretending to be the original profiles. To distinguish real profiles from fake ones, special verified accounts were introduced. These accounts are marked with a badge that guarantees the platform’s administration has verified the account and that it truly belongs to that person.
The procedure for obtaining a verified account is not described in most social networks. Usually, it is handled individually for each person. The platform’s administration contacts the account owner and requests information to confirm their identity.

Verified accounts are issued to actors, musicians, politicians, public figures, journalists, athletes, and other public personalities.
Conditions for Obtaining
There are no strict requirements for obtaining a verified account. Decisions are usually made individually. However, there is a set of minimum criteria that an account must meet.
- Activity on the page
The account must have a large number of followers, views, mentions, and reposts. The number of followers should be at least several tens of thousands.
- Public recognition
The administration may require proof that the owner is sufficiently well-known to receive a verified account. This may include television appearances, mentions in news outlets and media, or a Wikipedia page about the person.
- Properly completed profile
The page should display the real name without distortions or nicknames, or a stage pseudonym. The photo or avatar should clearly show the person’s face.
